Can I only open a demat account without opening a trading account with Zerodha?

Zerodha allows minors to open only a demat account. This is because minors are not permitted to engage in independent buying or selling, and the guardian can either transfer existing securities in their demat account or buy and transfer them to the minor’s account.

For adults or individuals aged 18 and above, we offer to open both a trading account and a Demat account. This is because, in the event that a client wishes to buy or sell shares, these transactions must be conducted through the trading account.
