Oscars 2024 – Full Winners list + highlights from the 96th Academy Awards – beragampengetahuan FILM BLOG – Beragampengetahuan

Happy Post-Oscars Day, everyone!! Did you watch the ceremony last night? Just like last year, the Oscars happened during the end of daylight savings when we actually lost one hour 😦 Thankfully they started the ceremony an hour early and relatively speaking it went by pretty fast and was pretty entertaining overall.
Now, Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Oscars once again, his fourth time doing his gig, and though he’s nowhere near the funniest nor the most charismatic guy to do these things, all things considered, he did a decent job and made me laugh a couple of times. People who are into daddy jokes would likely laugh at the ‘two Yorgos’ joke which I have to admit made me chuckle a bit. The bit about the SAG strike agreement where actors can go back to worrying about being replaced by younger and more attractive people instead of AI is hilarious and spot on!
As expected throughout the award season, OPPENHEIMER won Best Picture. It took home seven Oscars after being nominated in 13 categories.
And here are the Oscars acting winners of 2024… I’m pretty happy with this year’s choices!

Unlike last year where ALL the acting winners were from A24 movies, they spread the love a bit, though Downey + Cillian were both from Oppenheimer.
Anyhoo, I made my predictions at the last minute of who will win and who SHOULD win, here are my predictions ballot. I actually tried to predict ALL of the nominations this year despite not having seen them all. I got 20 right out of 23 categories, not bad!!

Thoughts + Takeaways
2023 was a tough year in Hollywood marked with dueling strikes so it’s nice to see camaraderie and solidarity displayed at the Oscars. Kimmel invited a below-the-line crew to the stage after addressing the current IATSE contract negotiation which possibly led to another strike – “…before we celebrate ourselves, let’s have a very well-deserved round of applause for the people who work behind the scenes: the teamsters, the truck drivers, sound engineers, gaffers, grips, all of the crew.” Love this!

This year’s ceremony brought back past acting winners to introduce the acting nominees from all four categories. Now, as much as I love seeing those past winners on stage together, like the five women presenting the Best Actress Oscars, I miss seeing the clips of each nominated performance. Perhaps next year they can show the clips as the presenter is talking?

This year’s Oscars has been mostly predictable, the entire night was pretty suspense-free, that is until the Best Actress category. Just look at Emma Stone‘s flabbergasted reaction…
I for one am ecstatic over Emma’s win… I was in awe of her fearless performance in Poor Things, and she also wore many hats in the production as a producer.
Now, I see many people on Twitter are upset that Stone won instead of Lily Gladstone, which is understandable, nothing wrong with being passionate about someone/something. But to actually be vindictive, spiteful, and saying nasty things about the winning actress is so juvenile and downright sad. As a woman, I think the media and people on social media like to pit women against each other, when in reality I think the actresses are supportive of one another.

First-time talents/filmmakers triumphing over veterans give all of us aspiring creatives hope and inspiration! I love how Cord Jefferson championed independent/smaller-budget productions during his speech for winning Best Adapted Screenplay for American Fiction.

Now, I’m not advocating for the Best Animal Acting category but love that animal performers were also invited to the Oscars. Last year we got Jenny the Goat from The Banshees of Inisherin and this year there’s Messi from Anatomy of a Fall!

The Not-So-Good Moment…
The In Memoriam segment is always hard to get right it seems. While it started with the gut-punching clip honoring Alexei Navalny, there is just overdone with too much going on. There are live music/singing + dance performances on top of the clips of those who have passed away in the past year. No offense to Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo, but I wish they’d just keep it simple and keep things focused on the people we’ve lost, the rest are just too distracting.

HIGHLIGHTS
Da’Vine Joy Randolph might as well change her name to Divine Joy… she’s the highlight early in the evening with her gracious and emotional speech. Love her performance in The Holdovers!
Da’Vine Joy Randolph got me all teared up with her beautiful, heartfelt speech. Her Best Supporting Actress for #TheHoldovers is so well deserved!!! ✨ #Oscars #Oscars2024 pic.twitter.com/HtYtzTCzUK

Ryan Gosling might have won the night despite not winning an award. His Barbenheimer rivalry banter with Emily Blunt is funny and endearing. The duo is starring in The Fall Guy where Gosling is playing a stunt guy, so it makes sense for them to honor some of cinema’s best stunts.
Come on Academy, when will the Best Stunts category be introduced?! As they aptly said, they are the unsung heroes of cinema!
As for Gosling, if there’s an award for Best Musical Performance By an Actor at the Oscars, he’d win in a landslide last night!!
Dayum! #RyanGosling brought the house down w/ his potent #kenergy 😎⚡️🎤

Here’s the full I’m Just Ken performance,
So fun seeing all the Barbie Movie‘s Kens reunite… and hey, there’s even Bob Marley 😀 Kingsley Ben-Adir must still be riding high as Bob Marley: One Love is a smashing success, currently stands at $160 million worldwide!!

Glad to see Christopher Nolan won Best Director… Oppenheimer truly is an astounding achievement. I stand by what I said in my review, it’s a majestic, haunting, thought-provoking piece of cinema that further cements Nolan’s auteur status.
Congratulations #ChristopherNolan!! He’s done plenty of astounding work but nice to see him winning #BestDirector for his BEST film yet!#Oppenheimer #Oscars #Oscars2024 pic.twitter.com/Sk3K2dABUP

I don’t think anyone bet against Oppenheimer winning, though I’d be as happy if Past Lives or Poor Things had won.
So Oppenheimer now stands as the 3rd highest-grossing Best Picture winner, behind Titanic and Lord of the Rings – Return of the King.
If I still had a WTF segment in this Oscars post, this bit would’ve definitely made the cut. Now, not all WTF is terrible though. This 1974 Oscars streaker recreation could’ve been cringe-y and tasteless but John Cena managed to make it hilarious!
A naked guy in front of a naked gold guy is a hoot! That John Cena is a good sport 🤣#Oscars #Oscar2024 pic.twitter.com/VE6fOYj4Oz
