$500k island home trumps The Block as nation’s most wanted – Beragampengetahuan
382 Victoria Parade, Coochiemudlo Island
A humble 1980s-built cottage metres from the sand on a tiny island near Brisbane has been crowned the most popular property for sale in Australia this week.
Offers above $500,000 are sought for the Coochiemudlo Island home, which attracted a whopping 26,810 views on beragampengetahuan.com.au over seven days — about three times the clicks of the next ranked property, which featured on The Block.
Marketing agent Tristan Rowland, of Stone Real Estate Aspley, said the oceanfront two-bedroom, one-bathroom home at 382 Victoria Pde had struck a chord with buyers across Australia as well as internationally, with an offer incoming from a Canadian expat.
It was the nation’s most-viewed home for sale

He said buyers coveted the prospect of owning a holiday home in an idyllic and easily accessible location, 15 minutes to the mainland by barge or ferry.
PropTrack data shows the asking price is well below Brisbane’s citywide median home value of $773,000.
The median house price on Coochiemudlo Island was up 6 per cent over the past 12 months, to $487,500.
“We’ve been really surprised by the level of interest, not just locally and from the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast, but also nationally. We’ve also had a lot of expats looking at the property,” Mr Rowland said.
The deceased estate on a 506 sqm block was on the market for the first time since it was built, while just two other waterfront homes in the pocket had sold this year.

It was one of the first homes on the island, built in 1983 by the late Ian Rowland, a permanent resident of the tight-knit community of about 400 houses.
PropTrack’s Property Preview Report shows the next most-viewed property was a Gisborne home which Scott Cam restored on last year’s season of The Block.
The historic five-bedroom acreage estate on 4.04ha at 207 McGeorge Rd is marketed with a price guide of $4.1-4.3m by Kirrily Evans, of Evans Realty Group Gisborne.
Main Beach 107m from your doorstep
Mr Rowland said many buyers were not previously aware of Coochiemudlo Island’s existence, 35km from Brisbane in the Moreton Bay region.
“The big thing with Coochiemudlo is you can have the island lifestyle and the tropical getaway, but it is so quick to get on and off the island.
“There’s also a tremendous amount of daily commuters or you can work from home and still put your crab pots out every afternoon.”
Located 107m from the beach via a direct access path, the cottage has a fenced yard and two sheds on the block.
