Potential kit number for Joao Cancelo once he joins Barcelona – report – Beragampengetahuan

Barcelona have everything in place to secure the signing of Joao Cancelo from Manchester City on a loan deal with a purchase option.

The deal is being held up by Financial Fair Play checks but all parties involved are calm and confident that it will go through.

The right-back position has been a major issue for Barça over the years and someone like Cancelo could be the solution for the problem, with his arrival imminent now.

What number will Cancelo wear?

Ahead of the impending move, Mundo Deportivo’s Jordi Batalla has now come up with a report on the potential shirt number that Cancelo would be given once he joins Barcelona this summer.

The Portuguese international had been wearing the No. 7 kit at Manchester City, but that shirt is occupied by Ferran Torres at Barcelona, who took it after Ousmane Dembele’s departure.

As such, the report claims that Cancelo could take the No. 2 shirt that is vacant after Sergino Dest departed. The USMNT star had worn that number during the Joan Gamper Trophy presentation but has since left for PSV Eindhoven.

Cancelo used to don the #2 jersey during his time at Valencia, while he has also worn it with the Portugal national team and could be Barça’s new No. 2 this season.

What other numbers are vacant?

The No. 3 shirt is free at this moment, but Alejandro Balde is expected to be handed that number once his new contract and first-team registration are completed.

Inigo Martinez is also yet to be registered, but the Spaniard wore the #5 kit, left vacant by Sergio Busquets, during the Gamper Trophy presentation and could continue with that.

Apart from that, shirt numbers 14 and 19 are still unoccupied following the departures of Memphis Depay and Franck Kessie, respectively.

Clement Lenglet’s exit could free up the #12 shirt while Ansu Fati’s potential exit could leave the legendary #10 kit without an owner.
