Archetype variation is one of the best parts of Remnant 2, in part due to the inclusion of secret Archetypes. These Archetypes are not available at the start of the game. Rather, players have to explore the various worlds of Remnant 2 and find the associated Engrams for each Archetype.

There are six secret Archetypes in Remnant 2; Alchemist, Archon, Engineer, Explorer, Invader, and Summoner. Each one provides a new play style and aesthetic that fans can apply to their characters if they can craft their Engrams. While the Archon’s Engram is unknown, the others are, respectively, the Philosopher’s Stone, a Drzyr Caliper, a Golden Compass, a Serrated Root Blade, and the Tomb of the Bringer.

How To Unlock The Archon Archetype In Remnant 2

The strongest theory as to the location of the Archon Engram in Remnant 2 is that it lurks behind a corrupted biome gate located beyond an ever-shifting portal near the Fractured Ingress World Stone within The Labyrinth. Although many players have found this gate, none have been able to pass through. Until someone finds a way beyond the gate, the Archon will likely remain a mystery.

How To Unlock The Summoner Archetype In Remnant 2

Compared to the Archon, unlocking the Summoner Archetype in Remnant 2 is a walk in the park, or in this case, a walk through Yaesha. Players can purchase the crafting material for the Summoner Engram, a Faded Grimoire, from one of the Bloodmoon Altars found around Yaesha. The Faded Grimoire costs 15 Blood Moon Essence, 1,500 Scrap, and 5 Lumenite Crystals. Blood Moon Essence is a special currency for Yaesha that can only be collected during a Blood Moon.

To collect Blood Moon Essence in Remnant 2, players will need to keep leaving and returning to Yaesha until the sky above is red, signaling a Blood Moon. During a Blood Moon, creatures known as Root Wisps can be found floating in the air. If players shoot down these purple enemies, they’ll get one Blood Moon Essence. If they collect enough, they can buy the Faded Grimoire. They can then take it to Wallace in Ward 13 and turn it into the Tomb of the Bringer for 10 Lumenite Crystals and 1,000 Scrap.

How To Unlock The Alchemist Archetype In Remnant 2

Unlocking the Alchemist Archetype in Remnant 2 is, oddly enough, not guaranteed for every playthrough. In order to get the Mysterious Stone for Wallace to craft into the Philosopher’s Stone (costing 10 Lumenite Crystals and 1,000 Scrap), players need to encounter a random event called Manticora From The Drain. This event can only be triggered in Losomn.

In order to begin Manticora From The Drain in Remnant 2, players will need to approach a drain within Losomn. Once they get close enough, a Manticora will drag them into the sewers. In multiplayer, the other players will have to die, so everyone can spawn into the Manticora’s lair. Once within the lair, players can kill the Manticora and grab the Mysterious Stone as loot.

How To Unlock The Invader Archetype In Remnant 2

In order to unlock the Invader Archetype in Remnant 2, players must wield a special weapon called the Dreamcatcher. This weapon can only be obtained from the Asylum in Losomn. First, players must explore the Asylum and collect three Stone-Carved Dolls. When they have all three, they must take them to the Head Doctor in exchange for the Nightweaver Stone Doll. Players can then give the doll to the Nightweaver’s Web in exchange for the Dreamcatcher.

Once players have the Dreamcatcher, they can journey to Root Earth and head for the ship by the Corrupted Harbor checkpoint. This ship holds an amulet called the Escalation Protocol, which activates a blue particle effect. Swing the Dreamcatcher at the effect to get Walker’s Dream. This consumable teleports the player to the Twilight Valley, where they fight a boss named Bane. Upon defeat, Bane drops the Wooden Shiv, the material Wallace needs to craft the Serrated Root Blade and unlock the Invader Archetype in Remnant 2.

How To Unlock The Explorer Archetype in Remnant 2

If players want to try out the Explorer Archetype, they’ll have to defeat the main story of Remnant 2. The main story is officially over once players defeat Annihilation on Root Earth. Annihilation’s drops include a Broken Compass. Players can take this Broken Compass back to Wallace, pay the usual price for Engrams, and turn it into the Golden Compass. Although it will take a while to finish the main story, this is arguably one of the easier secret Archetypes to obtain.

How To Unlock The Engineer Archetype In Remnant 2

The Engineer Archetype in Remnant 2 is connected to an alien race known as the Drzyr. The materials for the Engineer’s Engram can be found on the Drzyr’s world of N’Erud. When players find the Titan’s Reach world stone, they’ll see a thick area of toxic fog. Players should grab some Purified Salve before they enter this fog in order to cure the Curse status the fog enacts while boosting their resistance. After exploring the toxic fog for a while, players can find an Alien Device on the ground.

Players can take the Alien Device to Wallace, transform it into a Drzyr Caliper, and unlock the Engineer Archetype. Once they have this Archetype, players should have access to all the secret Archetypes available in Remnant 2.
