Ollie Wines subbed out after just one quarter of Hawthorn clash with ‘heart palpitations’ – Beragampengetahuan

Port Adelaide star Ollie Wines has been subbed out of the Power’s clash with Hawthorn at quarter time, after reportedly suffering a heart scare.

Wines had previously been hospitalised during an early 2022 match against Melbourne after complaining of a similar problem.

With seven disposals in the opening term, the veteran midfielder had been one of the Power’s best before coming off, with key defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher subbed on in his place.

“You guys may remember a couple of years ago… in a game against Melbourne, Ollie Wines came off with heart palpitations. He had that checked,” Channel 7 boundary rider Mark Soderstrom reported.

“He’s got the same situation now, two years on.”

Wines’ scare is a further blow after a disastrous first term saw the Hawks kick six goals to one to lead at quarter time by 31 points.

Speaking two years ago, Wines rubbish conspiracy theories that claimed the COVID vaccine was to blame for his heart problem.

“It’s more a heart rhythm issue that is pretty common in elderly people and elite athletes,” Wines said.

“Once it was explained to me it was very reassuring and there’s not too many long-term effects.

“The prognosis is really positive. I’ve got a few more tests to come and to see the cardiologist again but at this stage it’s not a big issue.”
