Adam Thompson, a long-time Mosman local and partner with PwC accounting firm, is selling his family home just one street from where he grew up.

He and his wife, leading oncologist Dr Tracy Dunlop, bought a rundown but solid home in Wolseley Rd and set about reconfiguring it for a family of six.

They added a main bedroom with a balcony at the top of the house, created living areas that could be opened right up, installed a new pool and turned one of the three garages into a gym.

Thompson is so particular about maintenance he retains a painter to come over every six months to touch up any paintwork.

The five-bedroom Hamptons-style house with north-east aspect and harbour and ocean views goes to auction on April 27 with a guide of $12.5m-$13.5m.

Adding a master suite that opens to a terrace with the magnificent view has transformed the home.

Thompson’s favourite spot is the upstairs balcony with its knockout water views.

Thompson grew up in Methuen Ave and has spent a lot of time in and on the water. He is a past captain of the Balmoral Beach Club and still serves on the club’s board.

He was also involved in establishing new premises for the Balmoral Sailing Club. He is a keen swimmer and big in the ocean ski and kayak community.

The living room is now full of natural light.

His home is a seven-minute walk to Balmoral Beach and a 10-minute level walk to shops. It is also beyond the congested parking zone, making it easy for visitors to park nearby.
