What is the AZA? – Beragampengetahuan

I know I talk a lot about “the average zoo or aquarium,” but what does that really mean? I’m speaking of the group that falls under the highest standards in the land, those being the ones that are accredited members of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, or the AZA. 

What standards are we talking about here? Why would a facility or individual want to be a member? Who cares? I’ve got a quick rundown of the situation and I’m happy to answer your questions on the topic.
