A TV presenter and his creative director partner have listed their beautifully renovated penthouse for sale atop a historic Darlinghurst building with an attractive price guide.
Owen Lynch, on screen presenter of Dream Homes Revealed, and his partner Scott Cassidy, Creative Director of Better Homes & Gardens, have listed the one-bedroom apartment at 104/6 Stanley St for a May 30 auction with a $900,000 guide via Alexander Smith and Thomas Petrocitto of beragampengetahuan’s.
“We’re looking to move to the Northern Beaches for a bit of a sea change,” Lynch explains.
The apartment features 3.7m high ceilings, hardwood floors and beautiful heritage-stained glass highlight windows.

Scott Cassidy bought the apartment 18 years ago and did a major renovation.
Cassidy had bought the 10th floor space in the circa 1926 historic St James Flats, which is designed in the ‘Chicago-School’ style, at 104/6 Stanley St for $335,000 18 years ago.
“It was a deceased estate and a little old Italian lady had lived here … there were lots of tiny rooms and a very small, tight kitchen,” he said.
“But Scott stripped it all out and opened it right up.”
The top floor had originally served as a communal restaurant, billiard room and ballroom for the building’s residents and was only divided up into three penthouse dwellings in about 1950.
There’d been some disused public women’s toilets next door to the couple’s apartment, which they purchased in recent years.
There is currently just one bedroom but the approved plans allow for two.
The shared rooftop has city skyline and Opera House views.
The former women’s toilet is on title with the apartment.
So the home now comes with fully-documented DA approved plans to expand the home into a 70sqm two-bedder or large one bedroom pied-a-terre.
“We have designed the extension painstakingly and seen the DA through council, but have now decided to find a house instead of continued apartment living,” Lynch says.
The existing apartment offers a contemporary kitchen with full-size integrated appliances, internal European laundry, modern bathroom and unobstructed district views from every room — even the shower.
The existing apartment is a very comfortable space.
There’s also a large shared roof terrace with level access that offers city skyline and Opera House views.
“This is a rare and character-filled home that we’re hoping someone is going to fall in love with and take great care of,” Lynch said.
The lead agent, Alexander Smith, expects the rare property to be popular with a range of buyers.
“We’re expecting first home buyers, professional couples, investors and people wanting a city bolthole to be keen,” he said.
He expects the existing apartment would rent out for about $800 per week.
