Forget scouring up and down the coast in search of your own private island – there’s one on offer in the Southern Highlands.

A private lake and island are drawing plenty of interest in a luxury estate in Bowral.

The property known as Manderley, 2 Manor Rise in Bowral, is on the market with a price guide of $14m-$15m.

Title records show the estate is owned by Sarina Zaja, wife of Ausin Group Australia’s chief, Joe Zaja.

The family are now selling the property after completing extensive renovations, just three years after purchasing the home for $5m.

Listing agent Gene Fairbanks from Ray White Bowral said the vendors spent an “astronomical” price on renovations.

“It’s a really special home and the quality of renovations is outstanding,” he said.

The Bowral estate on sits on five acres of manicured grounds with native trees and a private fish-filled lake with its own mini island.

The listing shows a video of the home with two small boats where owners can row out to their own mini-island for a picnic – the perfect place to enjoy the spring weather.

The mansion has nine bedrooms, two kitchens, five bathrooms and space for 13 cars.

Other notable features include a modern wine room with fridges, cabinetry and wine racks, and a giant built in chess board in the backyard.

“All these separate sections of the home make it amazing for parties and entertainment,” Mr Fairbanks said.

It was previously listed in 2022, but was on the market for just 22 days as the vendors were seeking a higher price.

The owners have reportedly been holidaying and were initially looking to lease the property before deciding to sell.

The Zaja family also owned a historic residence in Glebe known as “Oswestry” which they reportedly sold for $7m in 2017, just seven months after they purchased it.

Mr Fairbanks said Manderley also included a self-contained loft apartment ideal for an au pair or guests wanting privacy.

According to PropTrack, the median house price in Bowral is $1.54m. That’s down 10.6 per cent over the past 12 months.
