Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, Sept. 8.
Winters Mill 35, SEED School 12: The Falcons moved to 2-0. Caleb Crouch, Paris Lee, Nico Baez and Malachi Denning all scored rushing touchdowns. Austin Utz completed a touchdown pass to Tyler Carroll.
Meade 48, Severn 14: The Mustangs capitalized on their first home game. Quarterback Brian Jamison passed 9-for-13 with 222 yards and four touchdowns. Receiver Tyrique Jones had four receptions for 169 yards and three touchdowns. Zahire Mike had 11 carries for 142 yards and two touchdowns. The game was stopped in the third quarter for lightning but was ruled a full game.
Glen Burnie 22, Annapolis 20: Danny Outen collected a receiving touchdown for the Gophers (1-1) while Hebrew Norfleet rushed in two touchdowns.
Harford Tech 27, Elkton 25: Jamaal Pearl Jr. carried 25 times for 136 yards and a touchdown in the Cobras’ win. Junior Karon Evan caught five passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. Stephen Kelley II was 11-for-17 passing for 111 yards and a touchdown. Junior kicker Caleb Hamilton converted three extra points. Tech defense had a pick-six by Junior cornerback Sam Roney IV. Donte Evans and Ethen Oakley led the defense coming up with key stops late in the fourth quarter.
Linganore 57, South Carroll 0: The Cavaliers’ rough start to the season continued as they couldn’t stop the Lancers’ offense. Caleb Evans was 8-for-14 passing for 52 yards. Angelo Marchany caught two passes for 21 yards, while JoJo Gigliotti caught two passes for 12 yards. Evans also led the team in rushing with 25 yards.
John Carroll 1, Bel Air 0: The Patriots and Bobcats went scoreless into overtime before Margo Smith took a pass from Makayla Casey and put it in the cage for the winning goal. Mackenzie Leeson had four saves for the Bobcats.
Winters Mill 10, Wilde Lake 0: Caitlyn Erlichman and Kaitlin Clements scored three goals each to lead the visiting Falcons over the Wildecats. Other scorers for Winters Mill included: Cici Coco (2), Riley Dell (1) and Brooke Anderson (1).
St. Mary’s 5, St. Paul’s 0: Katie Zehe scored two goals to lead the host Saints (1-1) over the Gators (1-1). Other goal scorers with one goal each were: Blaire Bernard, Abigail Thompson and Avery Bourk.
Patterson Mill 3, Havre de Grace 0: The Huskies cruised to their second win of the season, 25-3, 25-15, 25-4. Sophomore Sophie Lopano put down 15 kills to lead the win. She also added seven digs. Anna Elliot backed her with six kills and two blocks. Zoe Valan set them up with 29 assists to go with three aces. Ava Shores added 16 digs and five aces. Kinsey Mentzer had three kills and an ace to lead Havre de Grace.
St. Mary’s 3, John Carroll 1: After dropping the first set, the Saints rallied to beat the Patriots, 20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-17.
Harford Tech 3, Havre de Grace 0: The Cobras picked up the win, 25-20, 25-15, 25-20. In the loss, Nick Scopelliti led Havre de Grace with six kills and three blocks.
C. Milton Wright 3, Patterson Mill 0: The Mustangs beat the Huskies, 25-19, 25-23, 25-17. Patterson Mill was led by Cullen Young with eight aces, seven kills, and four blocks, and Aidan Mackowiak with two aces and seven kills.
North Harford 3, Joppatowne 0: Junior setter Scott Dilworth recorded six aces and 11 assists in the winning effort. During the game’s final set, Dilworth served an 8-point run.
Bel Air 1, Perry Hall 0: Cooper Rey made seven saves to earn the shutout but the Bobcats needed overtime to claim the win. Jordan Kozak scored the winner in the extended time with Owen Conway providing him the assist.
Edgewood 1, Kenwood 1: The Rams’ David Sabillon broke a scoreless tie midway through the second half. But Kenwood scored off a corner with seven minutes remaining. The game was called after regulation because of weather.

Loyola Blakefield 4, Concordia Prep 1: The host Dons (3-0-1, 3-0-1 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) beat the Saints (0-1-2, 0-1-2). The game was the third-straight win for Loyola.
Century 2, Sparrows Point 1: After spotting the Pointers the game’s first goal, the Knights rallied for the win. Nicholas McGhin scored the tying goal for Century and he later assisted on the winner by Mason Lee.
Archbishop Curley 4, Broadneck 0: David Brunetti scored three goals and Carter Clark chipped in one to lead the Friars over the Bruins. Andrew Throneburgh, Mason Landreth and Philippe Oliveira had assists for Curley, while goalkeepers Matt Tettemer (six saves) and JJ McKay (two) combined for the shutout.
Hereford 1, North Harford 0: Reiss Brannigan scored the game’s only goal with Lindsey Moneymaker providing the assist. Annabelle Grenzer needed just one save to earn the shutout. Savannah Picha made 10 saves to keep the Hawks in the game.
Bel Air 2, Sparrows Point 0: Gianna Dawson scored two minutes into the game and Ally Mace added the insurance goal with less than 28 minutes left to play for the visiting Bobcats.
Concordia Prep 2, Fellowship of Christian Athletes 0: Ceanna McGirt scored twice in the first half to lead the visiting Saints (2-0) over the Falcons.
